Trezor Bridge is a small piece of software developed by SatoshiLabs to enable communication between your Trezor hardware wallet and your computer’s web browser. When you connect your Trezor device (such as Trezor Model T or Trezor One) to your computer, Trezor Bridge acts as the secure channel that allows the Trezor Suite app or a compatible wallet interface to talk directly to the device.
Previously, Trezor relied on a Chrome extension called Trezor Chrome Extension, but as browsers evolved, especially with the deprecation of NPAPI plugins and some USB access restrictions, SatoshiLabs replaced the extension with Trezor Bridge. Unlike browser extensions, Bridge works on the system level and is supported on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Without Trezor Bridge, your browser or the Trezor Suite app might not be able to detect your Trezor device properly, making it impossible to sign transactions, manage crypto assets, or set up your wallet securely.
